Kids love to help out in the kitchen – well, at least mine do. I think it’s in their blood! This is a fun project that takes a few minutes to prepare, and that the kids can decorate with you after it’s baked. Colourful, sweet and fun. A giant cookie covered with all sorts of treats – to a child what could possibly be better?
Cookie Pizza
3/4 Cup White Sugar
3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup Margarine
1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
1 Large Egg
2 1/3 Cups White Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 pkg. Chocolate Chip (I like the PC Decadent Brand)
Heat oven to 375. Mix the 2 types of sugar, margarine, vanilla and egg well. Stir in flour, soda, salt, and chocolate chips. Dough should be firm. If it isn’t, add in a touch more flour and mix thoroughly until it is firmer. Divide the dough into two balls. On a greased cookie sheet, or silicone baking sheet, make two large cookies and flatten out evenly. Bake for about 15 minutes, watch for the edges to brown, and make sure to keep a close eye on them so that they don’t burn. Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly, and let your kids decorate it to their hearts’ content! Some decorating suggestions:
Icing (a good idea so that the toppings stick)
Shredded coconut
M&M’s candies
Chocolate chips
Dried cranberries
Nuts
Mini marshmallows
Jelly beans
Colourful sprinkles
Do you have any idea of several good recipes for pizza dough without yeast?
Have you tried baking this on a round pizza sheet (not the ones with holes) for the visual effect for kids? Do you think it would work?
I do think it would work, yes. I think the trick would be getting it thin enough, and really watching it – rolling it out with a floured rolling pin would likely be the best bet :o)
