Cake mix + Peanut Butter = cookie? Yes, it’s true! Add in a few other minor ingredients, and you’ve got the makings of a delicious cookie recipe perfect for school lunches or afternoon coffee break. And wouldn’t you know it, it’s easy as anything!
Peanut Butter Cake Mix Cookies
1 box white or yellow cake mix
1 cup smooth peanut butter
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup margarine
2 eggs
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix all ingredients together with a hand mixer until smooth (add chocolate chips last, if using.) Drop by teaspoonfuls onto silicone baking sheets, and bake for 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees F, watching the cookie edges for golden brown colour. Do not over-bake!
These are VERY tasty/easy and I was pleased to see it actually made 2 dz fair sized cookies. I made 24 plain and 24 with chocolate chips. I’ll never make “plain” PB cookies again. Thanks for sharing!
In my gas oven, I found they need more like 12 minutes on 350.
hi Cat, great recipes, thanks
can i just ask, how much cake mix to use?
also, if i dont want to use cake mix, what would the alternative be?
Jacintha…
use the whole package in one box of cake (18.25 oz)
and if you don’t want to use cake mix – make them from scratch…. there are tons of recipes out there.
good luck.
I baked these with my 18 month old daughter yesterday. They’re fantastic! I used milk instead of water, and added a splash of vanilla. They’re almost gone… and yes, sadly, I’m the one that’s eatten most of them.
This sounds fabulously easy (especially if you can get the cake mix for under $1) – and my husband lives for peanut butter cookies.
Thank you.
I LOVE THIS RECIPE! SO SOFT AND MOIST!
Do I melt the butter? Thank you.
